You have questions, I have answers. I’m an open book! (told you I loved books) I want you to be informed and know everything there is to know about how your senior portraits should be and how we roll.
Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions about custom senior photography.
BOOKING + PLANNING
WHEN SHOULD I CONTACT YOU ABOUT MY SHOOT?
The best thing you can do is BOOK YOUR SHOOT EARLY! My calendar books up 3-4 months in advance and usually has to turn seniors away every year because the calendar completely sold out. I exclusively accept a VERY limited number of seniors per year, only 20-30, so in order to ensure that you’ll get the best choice of dates and avoid the wait list, its a good idea to book right away.
WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY SHOOT?
You will most likely need to get the photo for the yearbook done during the summer but your REAL senior photo shoot with us can be scheduled up to about 6 weeks before graduation. If you are looking to use any of your images in the yearbook or send out Announcement Cards then your shoot must be within 4 weeks of those deadlines. Photo shoots and Ordering Appointments are scheduled Mondays-Thursdays with only 1 Saturday open per month.
MY SCHOOL SAYS I HAVE TO USE A CERTAIN PHOTOGRAPHER, DO I REALLY?
For your yearbook photo, yes, most likely. As the former editor of a yearbook I definitely agree that it’s important that formal yearbook photos be consistent in appearance. However, you are NOT required to purchase those images. Really, do you want those to be your only senior photos forever? You DO have a choice! Make an investment in your senior portraits from a studio based on the quality, options and style that fit you best.
BUT CAN I USE THESE IMAGES IN MY YEARBOOK?
Because I photograph seniors from all over the country, there are two answers to this question…
The images from your photo shoot with me are for use in your yearbook ad, your graduation announcements, graduation party, artwork for your walls and heirloom keepsakes to pass down.
Some Schools (mostly from states other than Florida) allow you to submit any image from any photographer to the yearbook. For them, the answer is YES. And, we will take care of that for you at no additional charge for any image you purchase as print or product.
Some schools require you to go to the photographer that the school has signed a contract with for the yearbook photos. For them, the answer is NO and YES. You will not be able to use these images as your formal yearbook BUT we can definitely use them in your senior dedication page!
I SEE A LOT OF GIRLS ON THE WEBSITE, DO YOU ACCEPT GUYS TOO?
Absolutely! While everything is tailored to young women, I absolutely photograph guys.
HOW DO WE DECIDE ON A LOCATION?
I am constantly scouting new and fresh settings for my seniors! I want your personal style to be reflected in your session locations and will match your wardrobe to your surroundings. After you book, I have resources to help you decide, or if you prefer I can just pick one for you based on what you like. Photo shoots typically take place in Pinellas County. Ask about the travel upgrade details if you’re envisioning another destination!
THE DAY OF
HOW AM I GONNA FIGURE OUT WHAT TO WEAR?
Oh honey, Im going to help you with that! Not only will you get access to my style guide booklet that walks you through everything, I also have a whole board on Pinterest to give you visuals! PLUS, while youre getting your hair and makeup done, I’ll go through everything you brought and we will plan the outfits with the settings at the locations we picked.
HOW MANY OUTFITS CAN I BRING?
There is absolutely NO LIMIT on your outfits! I encourage LOTS of options and I’ll be there to help you sort through them. Shoots are based on time, not the number of outfits or “poses” you are limited to. We can typically fit 4-5 different outfits per shoot, however, this is entirely dependent on you. The more time you spend getting ready between outfits, the fewer outfits we will get to, and vice versa.
Can my friends come with me…or my Mom?
Yes! Mom/sister/best friend is more than welcome to come along and help. BUT ONLY if its someone you can get weird with. Bff could be the secret to incredible images or could prevent you from feeling relaxed and confident in front of the camera. Please limit your entourage to no more than two people, unless they want to hang out in the car.
What about my dog, horse, llama?
Of course! We will plan ahead of time when and how to include your co-star make sure that they can be taken care of while they are not being photographed. However, co-stars with more than four legs are a dealbreaker. ie. spiders, octopuses,
WHERE IS THE STUDIO?
The boutique studio is located in the heart of Downtown Tarpon Springs right on Tarpon Ave and only one street away from the pinellas trail.
DO YOU REALLY SHOOT FOR 2-3 HOURS?
Most certainly, because time flies when you’re having fun! It might sound like a long time but most of that time is actually being used up by your clothing changes, fixing flyaways and walking to different settings at our location. Since most of our clients want to go home with their heirloom album, I like to make sure we have lots of variety and coordinating images to fill up the pages!
AFTER THE SHOOT
HOW MANY IMAGES CAN I EXPECT TO SEE FROM OUR SHOOT?
In the Photography world, quality always beats quantity. Between forty and sixty proofs will be presented at your Ordering Appointment for you to choose from.
HOW LONG DO WE HAVE TO WAIT TO SEE THE IMAGES?
No longer than 2 weeks! (typically only 1 week)
We’ll pre-schedule the date for your Ordering Appointment at the same time we book your photo shoot. You’ll come back to the studio where your images will be revealed for the very first time, we’ll sort through your proofs together, design your artwork then finalize and pay for your order. I’ll be there to guide you and answer any questions. Our clients always enjoy the luxury of personal assistance!
Is there any retouching included with my session fee?
Yes, minor retouching is done on all ordered prints/products. Images that are purchased will be given special attention. Anything beyond skin retouching and teeth whitening must be requested and can be done at a rate of $25 per image.
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT PRODUCTS TO ORDER?
During your ordering appt you will be right in the boutique studio where you can touch and feel all of the products. We will discuss your needs and wants then determine what would be the best fit for your home, your family and your friends.
HOW MUCH DO FAMILIES USUALLY SPEND?
Most senior families typically choose to spend an average of $1600 on their custom senior portrait experience. A la carte print pricing begins at $30 and Fine art canvases at $225. Print bundles begin at $420 and Designer collections start at $800 with the most popular collection being the Luxe Collection at $2650.

THE NITTY GRITTY STUFF… LIKE SALES TAX
WHAT TYPES OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
Cash, checks and all major credit cards.
WHY IS SALES TAX ADDED TO EVERYTHING?
Because Florida says so. No, really. As a legitimate business I totally understand what a bummer taxes are. Although I am a service based business, the rule in Florida is that if the result of any service is a tangible product, then that service must be taxed as well. Therefore, all prices are subject to a 7% sales tax. Luckily for my out of state clients, only the session fee will be taxed because your products are being shipped out of state, however you will have to cover shipping to your home.
Can post my images to Instagram, Facebook and online everywhere?
As a complimentary service, you will receive a web-ready files of every image purchased at your ordering appt. You are more than welcome to share those files on social media but only as delivered.
All images by Theresa Marie are protected under the Federal Copyright Law, which means that even though you are the subject of the image, the photographer retains ownership and it is illegal to alter the images in any way. That means no cropping, editing, filters, scanning, copying (taking photos of the photos), or any other weird stuff. All web-ready images will contain a watermark to protect clients and to ensure that the images are never stolen and published on other websites or used for profit by third parties.
Can we really afford to do this? Our ______ has a nice camera…
A good camera doesn’t take a good portrait; a trained and experienced photographer does. A professional not only knows the camera and equipment inside and out but has also studied lighting, posing, styling, retouching as well as translating personality to an image. Anyone can click a button, but a portrait is designed.
With flexible collections, and interest-free payment plans available, you can’t afford not to. Please don’t trust something as important as this to an amateur, you deserve professional images and heirloom quality artwork.
